CIBORIUS donates to the RoBertO meeting centre to promote reading, writing and arithmetic skills

The RoBertO meeting centre in the House of Generations in Berlin has launched the “Promoting reading, writing and arithmetic skills” project to support employable adults in compensating for existing deficits in basic education.

The project was launched against the backdrop of current social challenges associated with technological progress and structural economic changes, which adults with a lack of literacy and numeracy skills and the basic skills required today in the field of digital technologies are confronted with. The proportion of the working-age population unable to read and write is 12.1 per cent, with a further 20.5 per cent of adults having difficulty writing without errors. This is precisely where the meeting centre shows its full commitment and pursues the goal of implementing measures to reduce the number of adults with basic education deficits.

CIBORIUS has made a donation of 5,000 euros to support the RoBertO meeting centre in implementing the measures and establishing the necessary services. In this way, CIBORIUS aims to make a contribution to enabling affected adults to participate in society, because without the necessary basic education, this is not available to a sufficient extent, so that those affected run the risk of being excluded or isolated from society. With its support, CIBORIUS hopes to have provided the meeting place with the resources it needs to reach and help as many people as possible with its low-threshold learning and counselling services.
