The CIBORIUS Group visits MEP Marion Walsmann

Modern technologies are constantly changing our everyday lives – and the security industry is no exception. Intelligent robots are used to guard premises and machines or to read instruments. The CIBORIUS Group also offers its customers robot solutions for monitoring sites and objects or for reading instruments. Among other things, the portfolio includes the four-legged robot, which is safe on almost any terrain and provides reliable data. A few weeks ago, employees of the CIBORIUS Group were out and about with the robot in Erfurt. The aim was to capture the reactions of passers-by and explain the technology, as robots are currently still a rarity in the cityscape. MDR was also there and published both an article and a video of the event (the article on the visit to Erfurt, including a link to the MDR report, can be found at the end of this text).

Marion Walsmann, a member of staff at the European Parliament, saw the MDR report and was immediately impressed. As a member of the “Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age”, her focus is also on robotics, automation and AI. This was followed by an invitation to her Erfurt office, where she had the functions of the robot explained to her and spoke about the development of new technologies and the use of AI. And since, as a Thuringian, she also wants to strengthen the technological expertise of her federal state, the focus was also on supporting start-ups in this future-oriented sector.

The CIBORIUS Group already offers its customers intelligent service and security robots. They check and measure on sites and in factory halls, they take care of the fully automated guest check-in or accompany them from A to B. Security robots monitor objects and areas on the ground and from the air and report any irregularities to the connected service control center – all completely autonomously and fully networked.

But something needs to be done to drive research forward and expand services. There are currently still obstacles in the way of innovative companies. Strict requirements are often imposed out of ignorance or concern – which means that the markets in China and the USA have a head start here. A lead that the CIBORIUS Group also wants to make up for with modern robots and AI research. MEP Marion Walsmann recently summed up the demands placed on technology: “AI must always serve people, not the other way around.” We still have a lot of work to do at European level. Work that Ms. Walsmann is happy to tackle, especially after the impressive visit of the four-legged robot to her office.
